Not the most exciting room in the house, but one that is often overlooked when it comes to spring cleaning!
Clothes steamer
SCALING:
- First, we must try not to let water into the tank for several days (say a week or more)
- If your steamer with a removable water tank, lift and empty
- If your steamer is equipped with a drain valve underneath the appliance, open it and let the water flow in a container or in the sink
- If there is no drain valve, simply pour the water in the sink by the fill opening
- Calcium deposits can build up on the inner and must be removed
- The indicators that your device needs to be decalcified is a level less powerful steam, or in extreme cases, no steam
- Descale your steamer regularly to avoid all these problems
- Empty the tank as described above and replace the drain valve (if it had been removed)
- Mix 100 ml of steam iron cleaner with 360 ml of cold water
- Pour the solution into the tank and replace the cap
- Turn on the machine and pay special attention to the rate and speed of the steam outlet
- Operate the unit until you hear the usual amount of steam
- You may have to repeater this process more than once, especially if your steamer is very dirty
- When your steamer function normally, turn it off and leave any remaining solution in the tank to cool before emptying (approximately 30 minutes)
- Rinse the tank with cold water and empty it
- Fill the cold water tank and turn the machine allowing it to run until about half of the water has evaporated
- Shut down the appliance and let it cool
- Empty the tank .If you do not aim the cap of the tank between uses, the reservoir will completely be dried and feel fresher
Iron
SCALING:
- With irons also, try not to leave water in the tank when not in use (no more than two days)
- Calcium deposits can build up on the inner and must be removed
- The indicators that your iron needs descaling is a level less powerful steam, or in extreme cases, no steam
- If your device has the option of self-cleaning, follow the instructions outlined in the user manual
- If it is not equipped with this option, then descale the iron on a regular basis ... as usual two to three times per year
- Or to avoid this problem, use distilled water or reverse osmosis
- For descaling, mix 50 ml * cleaner steam iron and 180 ml of cold water (follow the instructions on the bottle)
- Pour the mixture in the tank
- Plug the iron and heat it until it steam
- Unplug the iron and place over a bowl (on the base) to allow the solution to drain for 20 to 30
- Stir the metal periodically to remove the tarter located inside
- When the metal is cold and empty, rinse the tank with a little water while stirring the
- Empty the water
- Half fill the water reservoir, plug the iron to let the steam procedure to remove any solution that may remain.
Tips for using a steamer
1. Always warm up the machine before starting to use it, this will prevent water from escaping from the hose before producing steam properly
2. Make sure you have plenty of steam
§ Never place your hand near the steam because you can get burned very quickly
§ Keep away from children
4. The steamers are designed to be used vertically, so it did hold it in position standing
5. Keep a slight tension on the section to encourage smooth wrinkles and to relax the tissue surface to remain smooth
6. Go slowly; it is not recommended to rely heavily
7. It is recommended to use the steamer on the reverse side of fabric, such as silk so that the fibers can relax more quickly
8. Never touch the delicate fabric such as velvet with the nozzle of the steamer. If you have the smooth, do the reverse side using the brush not to saturate the fabric water
9. Fill the tank to the recommended level, no more!
10. Always empty the tank of any unused water
11. Descale the machine periodically to remove mineral buildup on the heating element
USES:
§ The fabrics in cotton and cotton / poly (thicker cotton do not react well to the steamer to remove wrinkles).
§ Delicate fabrics (usually smoothed on the reverse side) that could be burnt or compressed by an iron
§ Tissues that could be brilliant to force the board
§ Items that do not need to have impeccable air such as shirts, polos
§ Heavy items that can be placed on board, like a wedding dress, a winter coat in wool jackets
§ Clothes and other items that are normally dry cleaned and worn more than once to refresh between the harbor
§ Washable curtains, especially transparencies that can be smoothed out after being suspended
§ Upholstery that requires freshening
§ Seats in the car to remove odors
§ Mattresses to kill bed bugs (there are no data that support this statement, but many people say that it helps)
